Everyday Borders: Film Screening and Debate

A CF volunteer attended an event held in Manchester Central Library in September. The event revolved around a groundbreaking screening of the film entitled ‘Everyday Borders’. The film explores the reality of current issues which are affecting migrants and refugees. However it goes beyond this as the film also explores the increasing requirements for landlords, health workers, doctors, employers as well as government staff that are required to check the immigration status of individuals. This is a contemporary issue which needs addressing as it is having an impact across society at all levels. There has been an increase in refugee and migrant geographical movement across Europe in recent times. After the screening of the film there was also a guest panel present who were professionals and leaders in the refugee sector as well as other areas who discussed issues around the film and how people’s lives are being affected by these changes. The event was organised by Migrant Support based in Manchester. We reconfirm our commitment to assisting refugees and migrants in need across British society regardless of background or culture.
