A Community Focus volunteer, Abdelrahman had the opportunity to visit the historic country of Italy. Abdel visited a range of historical and cultural sites such as cathedrals, monumental sites, churches, landmarks, restaurants etc. By far the most iconic site Abdel observed was the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The Tower of Pisa is located in the Tuscany region and was built over a period spanning two centuries. Construction on this colossal tower begun in 1173AD and was completed in 1372AD. Italy was once the home of the Roman Empire which stretched from Europe into North Africa and into the Middle East. This project revolved around advancing cultural and historical knowledge and helped Abdel better understand architecture and European society.
