Birmingham city hosted a number of international delegates from different parts of Europe such as Belgium, Turkey and Sweden. A CFL volunteer participated in the project entitled Missing Link which focussed around disability. The participants undertook presentations showcasing best practice models within their countries. There were also a number of themed workshops organised where participants could discuss and share ideas around issues relating to disability. The group also had the opportunity to visit external organisations such as Birmingham Disability Resource centre and South Birmingham College. These site visits were extremely important as it allowed delegates to visit facilities which provided or supported disabled community members. There were opportunities to ask questions and discover the needs of different service user groups. The project meeting was organised and hosted by an NGO based in the West Midlands. This project was important as it allowed international cooperation around the issue of disability. The delegates had an opportunity to view the services currently available to disabled community members in the UK.
