CFL have continued to develop their innovative projects on an international scale. Recently one of CFL’s volunteers participated in an international project to Palestine and had an amazing journey & experience. As a result of this project CFL are developing international partnership projects within the Middle East region. As part of our long term vision CFL in partnership with a Community Organiser Mohammed Mijan facilitated an arts project.
Zaheer Hameed kindly donated two poems he had created for two community organisations in Palestine. Farzana Jahan a local creative artist contributed two canvasses for two other organisations in Palestine, West Bank. Farzana said “I am very excited to be part of this international friendship project and I created two canvasses as gifts for community organisations in Palestine. I am impressed with the work CFL are currently undertaking. Their work is innovative and unique and is making a positive impression locally and internationally.” Both artists were presented with gifts, Mohammed Mijan presented a Turkish lantern to Farzana on behalf of CFL as a token of appreciation for her hard effort. Mohammed Quasim a management committee member said “it was great to see how the community participated in this Arts project and contributed by voluntary donating artistic creative pieces, in the spirit of international friendship. I am extremely proud to be involved with CFL who have endeavoured to create social change and participation working with marginalised and fringe community members. ”
CFL are looking to develop pen pal projects and a new innovative social enterprise initiative through the ‘Shabaz Seeds Fund’ working with socially and economically deprived communities in Palestine. The ‘Shabaz Seeds Fund’ was named after a local youth from the Wardleworth area who tragically passed away in 2005 and is aimed at creating a legacy for the contribution he made through the youth groups & projects he was involved in.
